2005年の発足以来、様々な場所で展覧会を開催してきたアーティストのグループ「団・DANS」はこの夏、椿山荘とのコラボレーションによる大規模なアートプロジェクトを開催する運びとなりました。椿山荘はかつての明治の元勲、山縣有朋の屋敷として壮大な庭園を擁する歴史的な場でもあり、現在はホテル、結婚式場として多くの人たちが利用する公共的な場所でもあります。今回の企画はそのような椿山荘の場所性を楽しみながら、「真夏の夢」と題されたテーマからも察せられるように若いアーティストたちがそこに刹那的ではあっても新たな魅力的な場を作り上げ、不況の中にあっても来訪者が展示を楽しみ、元気づけられるような企画を試みます。今回は、全46名の若手アーティストが参加し、椿山荘の二つの宴会場（ペガサスとギャラクシー）を含む一階部分とテラス、そして茶室や三重塔を含む庭園全体を使って作品展示をいたします。「団・DANS」としてもこれまでにない大規模な企画であり、若手アーティストの支援として活動し、この4年間で100名以上の作家を紹介してきた「団・DANS」の最近の状況をお伝えし、作家達の意欲的な作品をお楽しみ頂ける展覧会になるかと思います。

DanDans has sponsored four large group exhibitions, all at alternative spaces offered for use free of charge by the owners. The fifth exhibition is themed "A Midsummer Dream" and will be held August 16th ~ 30th 2009 at Chinzan-so in two of its spacious banquet rooms and famed gardens. Thanks to the expansive, unique spaces available,
DanDans will feature about 46 of its member artists with an enticing variety of works including oil painting, sculpture and new-media, selected by a team of curators specially assembled for this show. Most of the artworks will be on sale through a unique silent-auction system.
